Last night my friend Rachel and I went to filmmaker Sinéad O’ Shea’s new documentary, Blue Road: The Edna O’Brien Story. It is a beautiful film. It’s also my favourite kind of storytelling; exploring the life of an Irish woman and by doing so telling in part the story of Ireland.
